Lianne La Havas performs in NYC
Sunday, August 28th, 2011Lianne La Havas wows NYC
Sunday, July 31st, 2011On Wednesday night, Lianne La havas (popularly know for her Black Cab Sessions performance that we mentioned here), performed here in NYC in a nice intimate setting at the Living Room, where she sent the crowd into rhythmic Bliss with her stellar vocals (Will release some snippets from the performance later this week!).
Rhythm Junkie chatted with her about what’s next, as she was excited and anxious to perform, coming from a marathon of songwriting. She mentioned that she felt so inspired artistically by NYC, and that the whole experience has really opened doors for the Songstress on the rise.
We hear that she may have made that shift from ‘Indie’ to ‘Signed artist,’ but we’ll wait for confirmation and details *wink*. Either way, between her lyrcis that speak to raw emotions expressed unique to Havas’ style, Her quirky yet mature & stellar vocals, and her eye opening stage presence, there is no doubt that you will be hearing her name on the regular in Music Land.
Here is a photo of her new guitar (photo courtesy of her manager) that she mentioned she was “consummating with” during her performance Wednesday Night (in an artistic manner, of course). She’s a delight to watch, and indeed an artist to be reckoned with.

Strung Out… Lianne La Havas
Tuesday, July 5th, 2011You know how it FEELS when you are going through a very specific situation… and then you click play and someone is singing your exact situation like they overheard your thoughts?!?!? Yeah, that happened when I stumbled upon U.K. crooner, Lianne La Havas singing for The Black Cab Sessions.
I’m Strung out by the way she finesses that guitar and how her voice dances along with the music. Saw this video of her, and everyone in my Twitter timeline started RTing her infectious performance. Check out the UK import.

Foreign Fix: Florence + The Machine… My addiction
Monday, January 17th, 2011Her voice made me “lose my train of thought” when I first heard this track blasting from a Spinning Class. Did some research, and now I’m ADDICTED!
Florence’ voice is captivating with a mix of haunting & soulful sounds. The sound of this UK native is very refreshing, and has the potential to put her in a category of her own amongst some of the Greats in music history.

ADDICTED: Noisettes
Thursday, November 12th, 2009There’s a funky Punk and Soul band hailing from London-town that’s been taking over people’s eyes and ears with an eclectic sound and a fly front woman who knows how to rock a crowd. That band’s name is Noisettes and their leading lady is the lovely Shingai Shoniwa. (more…)
Foreign Fix: V.V. Brown
Tuesday, October 20th, 2009
VV Brown hails from London, donning a Cyber-tronic retro-50′s look... and her sound is just that, doo-wop soul meets futuristic Pop-Electronica fusion.
She’s truly 1 of a kind both in fashion and music, but to paint a picture of the feel her music gives, we’ll say her sound is reminiscent of a Tina Turner-esque edginess with splashes of Santigold, Gwen Stefani & Amy Winehouse, and a shimmering of Kelis. Check out the video for her singles “Crying Blood” and “Leave” below…me likey! How about YOU?
Her debut album “Traveling like the Light” is set to be released in the US in 2010. (more…)
